Frankfurt is a modern city with one of the busiest airports in Europe, but its center is quite compact and can be explored on foot. It’s divided into two parts—the new and the old centre, or as the Germans call them, Innenstadt and Altstadt. Since the majority of the original centre was destroyed during World War II, the Innenstadt contains all the new and rebuilt buildings, with glass facades and modern landscapes. If you want to discover what is left from the past—check the historical buildings in Altstadt.
